Attrition in Focus: Probing Factors behind Employee Turnover
Human Resources
The purpose of the dashboard is to know how some employees left the organization. In order to perform a detailed analysis, several factors were taken into account such as the department, the gender or age of the employees, but also other factors such as the number of work trips, the distance to the workplace and the job role of the employee, which are aspects that can severely affect the work experience.
The dashboard is designed in a way that it is possible to apply filters such as gender and department to get some insights that can help the company to make decisions to improve the employee's work experience and therefore decrease the attrition rate.
GOAL
The point of this analysis is to understand what are the important causes for employees to leave the company.
-
Does the company have a high attrition rate?
-
How does distance to work influence attrition?
-
Does business travel have an impact on attrition?
-
Which gender is more likely to attrition? Male or female?
-
Do the job role and the education field of employees influence attritions?
-
What is the age range most conducive to attrition?
RESULT
Although the attrition rate obtained was not over 20%, the maximum recommended limit according to the averages of a certain sector, several actions should be taken by the company to decrease this rate.
Thus, in the sectors where higher attrition is observed, actions to reduce employee attrition should be taken such as offering support and showing appreciation, compensating fairly and recognising high performance and prioritising work-life balance.
INSIGHTS
Although some attrition exists in the company, it represents only 17% of the total number of employees in the organization.
Attritions are more prevalent between the ages of 26 and 35, decreasing from this range downwards.
The male gender (63%) is more susceptible to attrition compared to the female gender (37%).
Attritions are more frequently observed in people who rarely travel on business and decrease as the number of trips increases.
Attrition is more common in people who live close to the company and decrease as people live further away from the organization.
Positions such as Director and Manager are less susceptible to attrition.
The Research and Development (R&D) department is the department with the most attritions.
Human Resources is the education field and consequently the department with the lowest attrition.
